Amazon KDP: Getting Started

  1. Prepare your book: Before you start the publishing process, make sure your book is properly formatted and edited. You can hire a professional editor or use a self-publishing tool to help you with formatting.

  2. Create an account: Go to the Kindle Direct Publishing website (kdp.amazon.com) and create an account. If you already have an Amazon account, you can use that to sign in.

  3. Add your book: Click on the "Create a New Title" button to start adding your book to the KDP platform. Enter the title, author name, and other details like the book description, categories, and keywords.

  4. Upload your book: Upload your book file in one of the supported formats, such as a Word document, PDF, or EPUB. You can also upload a cover image for your book.

  5. Set the price: Choose a price for your book and select the royalty option. You can either earn a 35% or 70% royalty on your book, depending on the price and the location of the sale.

  6. Preview your book: Use the preview tool to check how your book will look on various devices, including Kindle e-readers, tablets, and smartphones.

  7. Publish your book: Once you're satisfied with everything, click on the "Publish Your Kindle eBook" button to publish your book on the Amazon store. Your book should be live within 24-48 hours.

  8. Promote your book: Now that your book is published, you can start promoting it using various marketing strategies, such as social media, book reviews, and advertising.
